霞喀羅國家步道是一處具歷史與美景的夢幻級古道，沿線可看見日治時期，日人為討伐尖石、五峰一帶部落修築之駐在所、電線杆、碉堡、紀念碑、土牆及砲台遺址，步行其間，在解說牌的介紹之下，可以了解這一條有著可歌可泣的歷史古道背後的許多故事。

Syakaro Historic Trail: Hiking Through Taiwan’s Mountain History
Tucked deep in the mountains between Hsinchu and Miaoli, the Syakaro Historic Trail (霞喀羅古道) is more than just a scenic hike — it’s a living time capsule. Originally built during the Japanese colonial era as a police patrol route, the trail was part of a network used to control and monitor indigenous Atayal territories. But long before that, it was also walked by early settlers, hunters, and traders moving goods through Taiwan’s central ranges.
Today, the Syakaro trail has found a new life as one of Taiwan’s most beloved long-distance hikes — a place where history, culture, and nature beautifully converge.
