八大秀顧名思義就是由八通關山3335m、大水窟山3630m、秀姑巒山3800m(中央山脈最高峰、五岳第三)這三座百岳所組成； 由東埔進入充滿人文史蹟的八通關古道，沿著陳有蘭溪右岸經險峻的父子斷崖、磅礡的雲龍瀑布、一望無際的八通關大草原、秀姑坪白木林奇景、日治時期駐在所遺址，登頂中央山脈第一高峰的「秀姑巒山」，八通關古道東西分界點的「大水窟山」，以及尖銳多崖的「八通關山」，山頂視野極佳，南二段、南三段、馬博橫斷歷歷在目。

Batashiu – The Three Giants of Central Taiwan
The name “Batashiu" refers to the trio of towering peaks in Taiwan’s Central Mountain Range: Mt. Batongguan (3,335 m), Mt. Dashuiku (3,630 m), and the mighty Mt. Xiuguluan (3,800 m) – the highest peak of the Central Range and the third-highest mountain in Taiwan.
This legendary route starts from Dongpu and follows the Batongguan Historic Trail, rich in cultural heritage. Along the way, hikers pass dramatic landmarks like the Father-Son Cliff, the thundering Yunlong Waterfall, the wide-open Batongguan Grasslands, and the ghostly white forest of Xiuguping.
The trail reveals Japanese-era police station ruins, lush valleys, and ends with summits that offer jaw-dropping panoramas – from the remote ridgelines of the South Sections 2 and 3, to the rugged beauty of the Mabolasi Traverse.
It’s a journey that combines natural spectacle, historical depth, and a true sense of mountain adventure.
